Most mornings during my devotions I read some Spurgeon. The past few mornings I have been reading from a message entitled, The Peculiar Sleep of the Beloved. He is addressing all the reasons why believers should have such comforting sleep. This morning it was "the sleep of quiteness of soul as to the future." He tells this short story that really challenged me.
"I have heard of some good old woman in a cottage, who had nothing but a piece of bread and a little water; and lifting up her hands, she said, as a blessing, "What! all this, and Christ too?""
Help me O Lord to keep things in their proper perspective!
