One of the things I really like is his commitment to the Constitution and his understanding that its purpose was to limit the power of the Federal government. This is the reason that he votes against so many pieces of legislation. If he does not feel that the legislation is in keeping with the Constitutional authority of the Federal government he votes against it. On this account he seems to be very principled. He is sometimes known as Dr. NO. If this trend were to continue were he elected President I think you would see more vetos than ever in our history. His stand on principle is admirable.

Some of his libertarian views are a bit too liberal for my taste, ie. legalization of drugs.

I too am concerned about his view of foriegn policy especially in the Middle East. He voted against the war on principle, that is he believed they should be voting on a declaration of war. I can take no expeception to that. I think he is right. But I think he is a bit naieve when it comes to why the Muslims hate us. He thinks if we withdrew from the middle east (Israel included?) that the hatred would subside. I don't think that is so. I think he misunderstands the true nature and origin of their hatred.

Nevertheless, I find his stand on the Constitution refreshing and appealing and I am inclined at this point to cast my vote for him in the Republican primary. Not completely decided but leaning in his direction. I may very well not decide for sure till election day.James McEntirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18076786630641849452noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25640206.post-90873454366942900772007-12-17T11:44:00.000-06:002007-12-17T11:44:00.000-06:00How do you feel about Ron Paul since he has been i...How do you feel about Ron Paul since he has been in your neck of the woods for some time?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25640206.post-52630972744190707582007-12-12T21:58:00.000-06:002007-12-12T21:58:00.000-06:00I always enjoyed the conventions more when the can...I always enjoyed the conventions more when the canidates were selected at the convention.
