What I would like to achieve is being here long enough to ensure that the shepherding responsibilities have been passed on to a faithful man who will stand for truth and be a faithful minister of the Word to God's people. I would like to be around long enough to make the transition process long and smooth.

I suppose I see my self pastoring for another 20 years or so. I do not want to stay at the helm past the point of real usefulness in the Pastorate.

I have known a pastor or two who have stayed on much longer than they should have. I do not want to be guilty of that. I hope to have enough humility when the time comes to step aside and make room for my successor.

I also know a lot of Pastors who after serving for decades in a church move away. I hope I don't have to do that. I would like to be available to the new pastor to help him in any way that is needed. After years of preaching about the value of submission I would like to think I will be able to practice what I have preached and place myself once again under the authority of a Pastor. In fact after almost 40 years of Pastoring I am fairly certain that will come as a relief.

We will see how it works out, but that is the direction I am moving. I am thinking ahead!James McEntirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18076786630641849452noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25640206.post-28139616997015982732007-02-16T13:42:00.000-06:002007-02-16T13:42:00.000-06:00We as proud parents are glad to have you as our pa...We as proud parents are glad to have you as our pastor. I have told many people, that of all the pastors that I have served under, that I have never known one that spent as much time in study as you. We at Faith Baptist Church are fortunate to have such a man as you for our pastor, because there is no doubt that you could be pastoring full time at a larger church. A faithful man of God who puts the things of God above all else. His faithfulness can only come from the Lord whom he serves. He is an example in word as well as with his life. We are equally as blessed to have a family like his that stands behind him and gives unconditionally of themselves. It is we who have been so blessed these last seventeen years. We can only say Thank you, Lord and Thank you Bro. and Sister McEntire and Family, We love you!!!TO BECOMEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01358989235076877037noreply@blogger.com
